Scared to Moan is a series of jokes about men vocally expressing pleasure during intercourse and the masculinity complex associated with it. Sparked by a tweet posted in December 2018, the jokes utilize variations of the phrase "Dudes really be scared to moan. I be in my girl's ear like-" followed by a video comparison.

Origin

Before December 2018, several notable tweets mentioning men's alleged fear of vocalizing pleasure during sex had surfaced on Twitter.

On July 21st, 2018, Twitter^[1] user @ChoBeezy posted a tweet comparing their sexual moans to a section of song Tattoo by The Alliance. The tweet gained over 5,000 retweets within five months.

In replies, other users posted shared more punchlines, including It Is Wednesday My Dudes Vine ^[2] and Hulk's roar from The Avengers ^[3].

Spread

On December 17th, 2018, Twitter^[4] user @gurlthatsmax posted a tweet comparing their sexual moans to Lil Uzi Vert's reaction to a Rob Zombie poster. The post gained over 170 retweets within 10 days.

On December 20th, Twitter^[5] user @504carsonst tweeted "Dudes be too scared to moan during sex, whole time I’m in my girl ear like", attaching a video of a screeching lynx. The tweet gained over 9,600 retweets in just about a week.

On the same day, Twitter^[6] user @Flee_Wade posted a similar tweet, replacing the video with a footage of a black man chewing and saying the words "Muy bien". The post gained over 57,900 retweets in eight days.

In the following week, more notable jokes utilizing the same format were shared by Twitter users, including popular posts by @jodackblack^[7] (9,500 retweets), @DTyink^[8] (47,800 retweets) and @tofunochu^[9] (26,700 retweets).
