Say Ara Ara or You Want Me To Say Ara Ara? refers to a series of animations based on an audio clip of VTuber Kureiji Ollie repeatedly asking her viewers if they want her to say "ara ara," followed by her saying the phrase in a seductive voice. The clip was posted to YouTube in December 2020 and inspired animations visualizing it as a conversation throughout 2021 on YouTube and TikTok.

Origin

On December 4th, 2020, YouTuber^[1] blueAwoo posted a clip from a Kureiji Ollie stream where her viewers request that she says "ara ara." She screams, "you want me to say ara ara?" three times, then says "ara ara" in a whispering voice, garnering over 1.1 million views in two years (shown below).

On December 16th, TikToker^[2] @flowmotionyt posted an edit of the clip where a voice answers Ollie every time she asks the question, then makes a surprised noise when she says it, garnering over 9.7 million views in two years (shown below).

Spread

Over the following months, people began using the audio from the video in original animations on both YouTube and TikTok under the original sound for @flowmotionyt's video. On January 30th, 2021, YouTuber^[3] Nutshell Animations posted an animation based on the audio, garnering over 936,000 views in just under two years (shown below, left). On February 7th, YouTuber^[4] LemonSuit posted an animation to the audio, garnering over 2.1 million views in just under two years (shown below, right).

On March 6th, YouTuber^[5] Sammy San posted a version of the meme with an animation of GF from Friday Night Funkin' saying the line, garnering over 10 million views in a year (shown below).

On June 8th, TikToker^[6] and VTuber @aicandii posted a video lip dubbing to the audio, garnering over 7.5 million views in a year (shown below). The original sound garnered over 30,000 uses by November 2022, the majority being animations and lip dubs set to the audio.

The audio remained a popular source for animations in 2022. On June 6th, 2022, YouTuber^[7] 『ʚ •Avrïll• ɞ 』posted a Sonic the Hedgehog animation using the audio, garnering over 11 million views in five months (shown below).
