About

Sardaukar Chant refers to a scene from Dune in which the villainous Sardaukar prepare for battle with a low, droning chant similar to Mongolian Throat Singing. The scene was used in numerous remixes after the release of the film in October 2021, primarily in various YouTube memes.

Origin

In Dune, released on October 22nd, 2021, the Sardaukar, an elite military force of the Padishah Emperor who served prominently during the Corrino Empire, prepare for battle with a sacred ritual that involves a low, droning chant in one of the film's scenes (shown below).

On October 23rd shortly after the movie's release, YouTuber[1] Deadpaul_ posted the earliest known remix of the scene featuring beatboxing, gaining over 10,000 views (shown below).



Spread

Over the following week, multiple YouTubers posted remixes and memes based on the scene. For example, on October 23rd, 2021, YouTuber[2] Meep Studios posted a Hamburger Cheeseburger Big Mac Whopper edit of the scene, gaining over 33,000 views in roughly one week (shown below, left). On October 31st, YouTuber[3] Selective posted a What Do You Think He's Listening To variation, gaining over 101,000 views in roughly 24 hours (shown below, right).
