Ruber

About

Ruber is the main antagonist of the Warner Brothers movie Quest for Camelot. He is characterized by a chaotic demeanor intentionally expressed through the animation of his eyes, eyebrows and mouth, which has lend itself to continuous use of still frames of the movie in various image macros and reaction images.

Origin

Quest for Camelot also known as The Magic Sword: Quest for Camelot is an adaptation of the book The King's Damosel by Vera Chapman. It is notorious for a troubled production, which resulted in a watered down, more "Disney-like" final product as opposed to the darker vision of the writers and animators.^[1] Upon release in 1998 the movie was a box office bomb and received mixed reviews from critics. Some of these reviews note Ruber as either being a strong point for the movie, praising his bombastic performance by Gary Oldman, or as a generic villain.

In July 12th, 2018,^[5] a stillframe from the movie depicting Ruber confronting the knights of the round table was posted on /co/, on a thread about non-Disney villains (shown below).

The picture was immediately mocked by the board and spawned several threads both in /co/ and outside of it in the span of a few days (examples shown below).^[2][3][4] Ruber also has a page on Villains Wikia.^[6]

Many Ruber memes are based on the initial shot of Ruber at the round table, using it as an exploitable with various different characters (examples shown below).
