Roll the Windows Up, Hurry or It's Crash, He's Broke is a memorable quote from the RDCWorld1 YouTube video VIDEO GAME HOUSE 3, in which Mark Philips, playing Mario, tells the other people in a car to roll the windows up after seeing Crash Bandicoot homeless on the side of the road, saying, "He's broke, he's homeless, he's gonna try to ask for money." The video was uploaded on July 19th, 2018, and became the subject of memes over the following years, often in reference to Crash Bandicoot related posts and memes.

Origin

On July 19th, 2018, YouTubers[1] RDCworld1 posted a video titled VIDEO GAME HOUSE 3, in which they play video game characters in a format parodying reality shows. At the 3:52 timestamp, while riding in the passenger seat of a car with Master Chief, Luigi and Minecraft Steve, Mario sees Crash Bandicoot coming up on the side of the road. He tells everyone to roll the windows up so they don't have to give Crash, who is homeless, any money.

The video gained over 6.6 million views in seven years.

On March 29th, 2025, X[2] user @AshStash__ posted a comic based on the video in which Hatsune Miku sees Neru on the side of the road and tells everyone to roll the windows up, garnering over 2,300 likes in two months.



On March 30th, X[3] user @Chibi_VO posted a video voicing the meme over as a reply to the original post, garnering over 7,800 likes in two months.

On April 27th, X[4] user @nattydodo_002 posted a full animation of the meme, using the voiceover, garnering over 9,400 likes in a month.


On May 29th, 2025, X[5] user @soomlarr quoted an X user who posted the album artwork for the recently released Crash: Twinsanity soundtrack, writing, "Roll the windows up" as a way of criticizing the artwork on the album, garnering over 17,000 likes in a day.



The meme continued to spread on X in June 2025. On June 4th, X[6] user @SpadesEnder posted a version of the meme referencing the shutting down of the MultiVersus servers, garnering over 14,000 likes in two days.



On June 5th, X[7] user @hellspa07810203 posted a version of the meme in which mech anime series' like Gundam roll the windows up on Darling In the Franxx, joking that it is inferior, garnering over 1,900 likes in a day.
