About
Error Code 1001 is an alleged Roblox error code denoting a "possible raid warning," warning players that someone is near their device and telling them to immediately call 9-1-1 if they are alone. The error code gained viral spread on TikTok in August 2023 as a creepypasta, with some uploaders claiming to have experienced the error for themselves. While some users claim the error code is real but extremely rare or that it was removed in 2013, others claim it never existed, with little documented evidence of the error's existence prior to 2023.
Origin
The earliest known mention of Roblox error code 1001 is a post by Prussia person to the Roblox Rise of Nations Wiki Fandom[1] page on January 31st, 2022, writing, "So i was playing with my friend in a ps then i got error code 1001?? it keep repeating like always my friend also got error 1001 later anyone knows what that is?" One commenter, who posted a response that day, writes, "It is an error that happens when an Update, Repair or deleting of an app Fails." There are no other known mentions of the error code online prior to 2022.
On August 3rd, 2023, TikToker[2] @grotyneverdies2 posted a video allegedly showing a mockup of Roblox error code 1001, claiming that it was removed in 2013 in the caption, garnering over 650,000 views in a week (shown below, left). Some commenters claim the error code is real, while others doubt its existence. In the video, the error reads "possible haying warning," which the poster claims is due to his poor English in a comment. In a later video, they corrected the error (shown below, right). The video is set to Toxic Gossip Train, aka Colleen Ballinger's apology video.
