On August 9th, 2024, American former football quarterback Robert Griffin III posted a photograph of himself and his wife sharing a giant croissant in Paris. In the photograph, Robert Griffin III has the tip of the croissant in his mouth, supporting it with his hands. The photograph (shown below), captioned "It’s always Croissant O’Clock in Paris 🤙🏾", garnered over 29.4 million views, 8,100 reposts and 46,000 likes on X[1] in two weeks.

Immediately following the post, the photograph and its cropped versions became a subject of jokes and object-labeling memes due to it visually resembling oral sex. Within one hour of the original post, American former football player Torrey Smith quoted the post, writing, "They are about to cook you 😂😂😂😂" The post (shown below) garnered over 3,100 reposts and 59,000 likes on X[2] in two weeks.



Later on August 9th, X[3] user @DerekDuke25 posted an object-labeling meme based on the image, which received over 50 reposts and 970 likes in two weeks (shown below).
