Road Raging Lady is a photoshop meme based on an image of an irate woman standing in the middle of a street yelling at another driver for allegedly honking to signal that the light is green. The woman is typically digitally altered or superimposed into other base images for comedic effect.

Origin

On October 2nd, 2013, Redditor theguysspot submitted an image macro of a woman standing with outstretched arms in the middle of a street in a /r/funny[2] post titled “Just ran into this woman at the local red light” (shown below). Within 13 hours, the post received upwards of 34,100 up votes and 4,000 comments.

Spread

On the same day, Redditor theguysspot submitted another post titled "Road raging lady flipping me off" to the /r/photoshopbattles[1] subreddit, which invited other Redditors to photoshop a second photograph of the woman making a middle finger hand gesture. In the first 11 hours, the post gained over 4,800 up votes and 200 comments, many of which contained edited versions of the image (shown below).

Several hours later, Redditor erehgafsua submitted a screen capture from the 1997 romantic disaster film Titanic with the woman superimposed into scene (shown below, left) to /r/funny,[3] garnering more than 6,400 up votes and 150 comments in the next six hours. Also on October 2nd, 2013, Redditor theclasher shared another photoshopped instance of the Road Raging Lady edited into the promotional poster for for the 2000 historical drama film Gladiator (shown below, right). In the first two hours, the post accumulated upwards of 5,500 up votes and 100 comments.
