Ride Wife, Life Good refers to a series of videos based on a monologue of a gorilla who regrets killing his wife in anger. Originating from a viral YouTube video, the narration has since been reused in multiple remakes.

Origin

On July 26th, 2020, YouTuber^[1] Socialism Done Left posted a humorous video consisting of several photographs of gorillas, with an internal monologue of a gorilla who regrets killing his wife in anger being narrated by Fiverr voice actor Paimonia. The video (shown below) received over 3 million views on YouTube and 15,200 views on Instagram^[2] in five months.

On August 18th, 2020, Twitter^[3] user @Assassin36003 made the earliest edit reusing the narration, with the video gaining over 1,100 views in four months.

The format did not see viral spread until in late August 2020, YouTube^[4]^[5] user Benson made a reupload of the original video which significantly surpassed the original in view count. The video was later removed due to a copyright claim.

Following the viral popularity of the reupload, the video inspired remakes featuring other characters. On September 2nd, 2020, YouTube^[6] user SoggyMc Waffle posted a Family Guy edit that received over 17,100 views in three months (shown below, left). On September 5th YouTube^[7] user HocTap SFM posted a Source Filmmaker version of the meme that gained over 33,700 views (shown below, right).

In the following months, the video inspired more viral remakes, primarily on YouTube.
