About

Respect Minorities or Ruined It With Their Woke Trash is an exploitable meme format based on a webcomic where, in the top panel, a child reacts positively to Spider-Man telling viewers to respect minorities in 1994 and reacts negatively to Spider-Man telling viewers the same thing in 2024, yelling that "they" ruined Spider-Man with "woke trash." The comic was posted by X user and artist @habitovin in May 2024 and became the subject of edits over the following months, replacing Spider-Man and the details of the person's reaction.

Origin

On May 30th, 2024, X[1] user and artist @habitovin posted an original comic under the caption, "comic abt an average conservative's media literacy." The comic consists of two panels. In the second, the same person, now an adult, yells that Spider-Man has been ruined by "woke trash" despite sharing the same message. The post gained over 225,000 likes and 27,000 reposts in a year.

The comic quickly became the subject of edits. One of the earliest notable edits is a Raimiposting meme posted by X[2] user @seal_marshal on May 31st, garnering over 18,000 likes in the same rough span of time.
