Reduced Me To Sketch Form or At Least You're Not Whatever I Am refers to a redraw meme based on a one-off Evangelion webcomic in which the character Shinji, drawn in a sketch style, tells Asuka, who is drawn in a more cartoony style, that an angel has reduced him to sketch form. The two then look at Ayanami, who is drawn in a realistic style. The comic was originally posted to X / Twitter by artist @sweepswoop_ in late August 2024 and became the subject of redraws over the following weeks, gaining viral spread to sites including Tumblr and Reddit.

Origin

On August 30th, 2024, X^[1] user @sweepswoop_ posted a three-panel Evangelion comic, garnering over 102,000 likes and 11,000 reposts in roughly three weeks.

In the first panel, Shinji, drawn in a sketch style, says to Asuka, "Asuka, it appears the angel has reduced me to sketch form. What will we do?" Asuka, drawn in a more cartoony style, says, "At least you're not whatever the fuck am! I look ridiculous!" In the second panel, the two look to Ayanami standing in the distance and Shinji says, "Wait, what about Ayanami?" The third panel is a zoom-in on Ayanami's face, drawn in a realistic style.

Spread

The comic became the subject of redraws throughout September 2024 on sites including X, Reddit and Tumblr. On September 3rd, 2024, Redditor u/wise_vice posted a redraw of the meme to the subreddit /r/UndertaleYellow^[2] that garnered over 300 upvotes in two weeks.

On September 5th, Tumblr^[3] user kempkin posted a Dungeon Meshi redraw that gained over 26,000 notes in 12 days.

On September 9th, 2024, X^[4] user @chenniedol posted a Gravity Falls redraw that garnered over 100,000 likes in a week. On September 10th, X^[5] user @ixopod posted a Needy Streamer Overload redraw that gained over 24,000 likes in a week.

On September 16th, X^[6] user @KinoSelynn posted a version referencing the Marvel Comics characters Spider-Man, Wolverine and Deadpool, garnering over 1,100 likes in a day.
