#RedrawReigen is a Twitter hashtag associated with fan art illustrations of Arataka Reigen, one of the main characters featured in the Japanese webtoon and anime series Mob Psycho 100, mimicking a variety of awkward stock photographs.

Origin

On September 18th, 2016, Twitter user @Doonadraws introduced the hashtag #RedrawReigen with two original drawings of Arataka Reigen imitating stock photographs^[1]^[3] of a man eating salad and a woman pointing a gun at a goldfish. Within the first 48 hours, the two images garnered more than 2,100 likes and 500 likes, respectively (shown below).

Spread

On September 18th, 2016, Twitter user @sketchere contributed to the hashtag by sharing an original fan art illustration of Reigen and Dimple inspired by a stock photograph^[6] of a businessman using a laptop computer while riding on the back of another businessman flying like Superman. Within 48 hours, the tweet gathered over 2,400 likes and 1,700 retweets (shown below, left). On that same day Twitter user @oya? posted a drawing of Reigen and Shigeo Kageyama based on an image^[7] of a man apparently trying to levitate a slice of pizza by the means of telekinesis. Within 48 hours, the tweet gathered over 2,000 likes and 2,100 retweets (shown below, right).

On September 19th, 2016, Tumblr user Feriowind^[8] posted a compilation of #RedrawReigen illustrations along with their corresponding stock photographs, which gathered over 3,000 notes within 48 hours. Also on September 19th, Tumblr user Mega-tsuna^[9] posted a second compilation of #RedrawReigen images collected from the hashtag feed on Twitter, garnering more than 7,700 notes within 48 hours. In addition to its spread Twitter^[2], Tumblr^[4] and Facebook,^[5] the hashtag-based fan art meme was reported on by Kotaku^[10] and Crunchyroll^[11] that same day.
