Ray and Kai Cenat refers to a series of viral clips of Twitch streamer Kai Cenat hanging out with a Taiwanese fan named Ray during his trip to Japan. The two met in Japan and became friends, leading Kai to hang out with Ray for a portion of the trip. Viewers became fans of Ray and Cenat's wholesome friendship and started posting clips, edits and memes using videos of the two on sites including Twitter and TikTok throughout July 2023, with some wanting Ray to join AMP, a content creation group that includes Cenat. One of the most viral clips features Ray appearing to accidentally sing the N-word while singing "Mo Bamba" with Cenat. In August, Kai flew Ray out to America, where they filmed a short film inspired by Rush Hour called Global Pursuit and streamed together, with Ray also accompanying Kai on stage to accept his Streamy Award for Best Streamer.
Origin
On July 14th, 2023, Twitch[1] streamer Kai Cenat went to Japan. Around the 1:02:00 mark, a fan named Ray approaches him, saying that meeting Cenat is his "dream." The two took photos together and continued to hang out during Cenat's July 16th, 2023 Twitch[2] stream, where they filmed more content together, including singing to songs during a taxi ride, shopping at a game store and dancing together. Around the 01:06:00 mark, Cenat and Ray depart, Cenat promising to meet him again in Taiwan or have him come to the US for a stream. On July 15th, the Kai Cenat Live YouTube[3] channel uploaded a video including Cenat meeting Ray, garnering over 1.2 million views in five days (shown below).

As Cenat hung out with Ray, viewers became fans of the two and started posting clips and edits of their footage. On July 16th, 2023, TikToker[4] @ampmafiaa posted a compilation of highlights featuring the two, garnering over 4.8 million views in four days (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker[5] @regularkaicenat posted a clip from the streams where Ray accidentally sings the N-word while the two sing along to a song, garnering over 4.3 million views in the same span of time (shown below, right). The clip was also posted by Twitter[6] user @domainsdomain, garnering over 50,000 likes in the same span of time.
On July 16th, Kai Cenat uploaded a video to YouTube[7] titled "I Rented Us Girlfriends In Japan!" featuring Ray and himself going on dates with women in Japan, garnering over 1.9 million views in four days (shown below).
On July 17th, Twitter[8] user @ragedontmiss made a post consisting of a photo of Ray and Cenat together next to a photo of Sheen and Libby from Jimmy Neutron, writing, "they said this is what Kai Cenat and Ray look like😭," garnering over 85,000 likes in three days (shown below).
On July 19th, TikToker[9] @professionalhustler2 posted a video reporting on a clip of Kai Cenat driving away after saying goodbye to Ray (reupload shown below).
Short Film "Global Pursuit"
On August 25th, 2023, Kai Cenat published a short film to YouTube[10] titled "Global Pursuit," starring himself and Ray. The film is inspired by the Rush Hour movies. The video gained over 8.7 million views in a week (shown below).
Ray Visits America / 2023 Streamy Awards Appearance
On August 27th, 2023, Kai Cenat was awarded the Streamer of the Year award. Cenat appeared on stage to accept his award with Ray, who said "GOD DID" before exiting the stage. The video was uploaded to the Streamy Awards YouTube[11] page on August 28th, garnering over 1.3 million views in four days (shown below).
Kai and Ray streamed together while Ray was in America, with numerous highlight clips and videos about the trip uploaded to YouTube. For example, on August 27th, Kai Cenat uploaded a video to YouTube[12] titled "Bringing My Asian Friend To America!," garnering over 5.9 million views in four days (shown below, left). On August 30th, the Kai Cenat Live YouTube[13] channel uploaded a video of Kai saying goodbye to Ray, garnering over 1.5 million views in a day (shown below, right).
