"Pull Up Stuntin'" Alien Spaceship Dance refers to a series of TikTok videos that use the pluggnb rap song "Take Off / House Arrest" by Summrs and show a man and an alien dancing inside a spaceship. The man in the video is Baltimore-based TikToker Carnell Nichols whose dance move is called the Carnell Stomp. His original video with the alien character was posted in 2021. However, the Summrs iteration of the meme surfaced in 2024 and went largely viral.
Origin
On July 9th, 2021, TikToker[1] @trendsetterrrrrrr (aka Carnell Nichols) posted a video of him dancing with an alien in a spaceship, captioned, "When the aliens abduct me but i like their music," receiving over 2.6 million plays and 482,500 likes in three years (shown below).
Carnell Nichols' dance is called the Carnell Stomp. It was created by him, evident in viral TikTok[2][3] videos of him performing it in various settings, dating back to 2020.
Currently, the earliest known version of the "Pull Up Stuntin'" meme was posted by TikToker[4] @armando25022 on March 15th, 2024, which responded to a comment reading, "thugbooty43," and used a cropped, low-quality version of the original TikTok with the Rio De Janeiro Filter added. Over 17 days, the video received roughly 231,700 plays and 48,400 likes (shown below).
Spread
Going into late March 2024, new iterations of the video surfaced using both higher-quality and lower-quality versions of the original TikTok. For instance, on March 26th, 2024, TikToker[5] @shock_emoji624 posted the video, asking who airdropped it to them, gaining over 490,000 plays and 103,400 likes in six days (shown below, left).
On March 28th, 2024, TikToker[6] @muddysobased posted a cropped iteration, receiving over 1.2 million plays and 264,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).
Increasingly abstract iterations of the meme surfaced on TikTok going into early April 2024. For instance, on March 30th, 2024, TikToker[7] @lan.wrld posted a version with multiple videos and audios layered on top of one another, gaining over 174,200 plays and 30,300 likes in two days (shown below, left).
On March 31st, 2024, TikToker[8] @dahoodjaquan posted a version with a Roblox character, gaining over 177,000 plays and 53,900 likes in a day (shown below, right).
