Pull My Devil Trigger refers to a lyric from the song "Nero's Theme," which played during the announcement trailer for Devil May Cry 5 at E3 2018. After the trailer, the Devil May Cry fandom made jokes and videos about the lyric.

Origin

On June 10th, 2018, Capcom announced Devil May Cry 5 with a cinematic trailer (shown below, left). During the trailer, the song "Nero's Theme" by Ali Edwards played (shown below, right). One of the lyrics in the song is "Bang bang, pull my devil trigger," which led to the song being called "Pull my devil trigger" by fans.

The day after the trailer aired, the lyric was joked about in the Devil May Cry fandom. Redditor CapnShaggles posted to /r/DevilMayCry^[1] an image macro with a character from the trailer on June 11th, gaining over 150 points (shown below, left). The following day, Redditor OnCominStorm^[2] posted an Annoyed Bird exploitable with the phrase, gaining over 950 points (shown below, right).

That day, YouTube user MDKcde posted a video pairing the comic with the song, gaining over 7,000 views (shown below, left). An animation posted by user CAUTION!! on June 15th gained over 4,500 views (shown below, right).
