Professor Garlick or Mirabel Garlick is the herbology professor in Hogwarts Legacy, a 2023 video game based on the Harry Potter series. Following the game's release in February 2023, people began posting fan art, including rule 34 artwork, and memes about Garlick, often expressing attraction for her.

Origin

On November 30th, 2022, the @HogwartsLegacy Twitter^[1] page posted a video previewing Hogwarts Legacy's herbology professor, Professor Mirabel Garlick, garnering over 4,600 likes and 500 retweets in three months (shown below). In comments, the account shares that Garlick is a Hufflepuff. According to her Harry Potter Fandom^[2] page, Garlick is a muggle-born witch and discovered her affinity for magical plants after arriving at Hogwarts. She was awarded the Hogwarts Herbology Award in her seventh year at the school.

Following the early release preview of Hogwarts Legacy on February 7th, 2023, and the official release on February 10th, 2023, Professor Garlick became a fan-favorite character as people began posting fan art and memes about Garlick, often expressing attraction for her. For example, on February 8th, Twitter^[3] user @TinyAstronauts posted a meme about simping for Garlick, garnering over 95 likes in five days. On February 10th, Twitter^[4] user @ryosharke posted a piece of fan art that gained over 98 likes in three days (shown below).

On the same day, TikToker^[5] @travel_denn posted a fancam edit of Garlick, writing, "Never going to be late to herbology class again," garnering over 1.9 million views in three days (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker^[6] @hellojtello posted a video of himself seeing Garlick for the first time and commenting on her looks, garnering over 311,000 views in three days (shown below, right). That day, Redditor Spektre191 made a post to /r/HarryPotterGame^[7] asking if they're the only one attracted to Garlick, garnering over 500 upvotes in three days.
