Please Sega Don't Turn Me Into… refers to a series of videos in which Sonic the Hedgehog begs Sega to not turn him into various objects, which he ends up turning into by the end of the video. The videos are an offshoot of the Don't Turn Me Into A Marketable Plushie meme, but all feature Sonic the Hedgehog and use vo.codes to imitate Sonic's voice.

Origin

On October 14th, 2020, YouTuber SuperSonicGamer03 posted a Don't Turn Me Into A Marketable Plushie meme featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, having him say the phrase using voice imitation software vo.codes. The video gained over 198,000 views (shown below).


Precursor

Don't Turn Me Into Marketable Plushies refers to a series of memes which imagine various fictional characters protesting against being turned into plushies, and then being turned into ones against their will.

Spread

Over the following two weeks, dozens of similar videos were posted to YouTube, each using a similar pose of Sonic and similar dialogue. Popular examples include an October 23rd, 2020 video posted by ShizerMister which gained over 123,000 views (shown below, left) and an October 24th video by SonicSupine which gained over 160,000 views (shown below, right).


The format proved very popular, with over 100 iterations of the meme released on YouTube in October of 2020. YouTuber GoodraRus[1] compiled a playlist featuring examples of the meme, adding 117 videos as of October 28th.
