About
Please Give Me A Whole Tray Of Peas refers to a viral video of gameplay footage from the 1995 educational PC game Jumpstart 1st Grade in which a young girl asks for a whole tray of peas during a food service minigame meant to teach fractions. The video resulted in a number of edits on YouTube throughout 2020 and 2021, going viral on TikTok at the same time where it saw significant use as an original sound.
Origin
On August 28th, 1995, video game developer JumpStart released the educational PC game Jumpstart 1st Grade, consisting of a number of educational minigames. One minigame puts the player in the shoes of a cafeteria worker. Children line up in front of the counter, displaying an array of food represented largely by photographs, and tell the player what they want to eat in a fraction (for example, "please give me one-third of a tray of beans"). The player then selects the food and places it on the tray accordingly.
