About

Playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS is a memorable quote from a promotional video featuring then-president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime advertising Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS. The line is often mocked due to how awkward the phrase comes off as and it is often used to mimic abruptly changing a subject mid-conversation.

Origin

During a promotional video for Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS released on Jun 21, 2013, at the 2:57 mark, Reggie Fils-Aime says the line "Okay, that's all the time I've got. I've gotta get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS.", abruptly ending the video (shown below). As of July 2nd, 2018, the video has amassed 480,914 views.

The video began gaining attention after June 23rd, 2018, when Twitter user @belodyepic submitted a post featuring the quote, with the text "Me when a girl invites me round to her house to watch Netflix but then she starts taking off her clothes 😬" (shown below).
