About
"Plastic Beach" is a song by the British virtual band Gorillaz. Released as a part of their album of the same name in March 2010, in August 2019 the song has been used in edits, usually played during the moments when a person is about to get hurt.
Origin
On March 3rd, 2010, British virtual band Gorillaz released its third studio album Plastic Beach.[1] The album included a total of 16 tracks, including a song of the same name.
Spread
On August 1st, 2019, Instagram user vw.mp4 posted a scene from the Family Guy episode "Extra Large Medium," with the song and the color balance effect used as the punchline (shown below).[2] The video gained over 60,300 views and 14,600 likes in two weeks.
In the following days, more Instagram users posted edits executed in a similar fashion, including notable versions by users pampam.mp4,[3] realstiffy[4] and pyro.kek.[5]
