Pints, Chit Chat and Good People, also known as Boys at the Pub Video, refers to a viral TikTok video of British men outside of a pub in England who set up a phone to record themselves talking and laughing. The original video was posted by TikToker Max Lepage-Keefe (@maxlepagekeefe) and it was filmed outside of the London pub Palace Artois in late October 2023. The video went viral due to a mass perception that it was cringy and it earned parodies and copycats in the weeks that followed its upload.

Origin

On October 25th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @maxlepagekeefe posted a video of him and a few male friends drinking pints, talking and laughing outside of a London pub. The video had text overlay reading, "pints, chit chat and good people >," and used the song "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield as the TikTok sound.^[7] Over 11 days, the video received roughly 2.7 million plays and 117,100 likes (shown below).

In the days following the video's upload, it was humorously ridiculed by other users on TikTok who labeled it as cringe via content that parodied it. For instance, an early viral example was a stitch posted by TikToker^[2] @theboski on October 27th, 2023, which received roughly 1.2 million plays and 129,100 likes in nine days (shown below, left). On October 30th, TikToker^[3] @fishermanernie posted a duet with a similar sentiment, gaining roughly 2.6 million plays and 313,900 likes in six days (shown below, right).

On November 2nd, 2023, the TikTok^[4] page of @vice posted a video that covered the evolution of the meme and relayed the location of the original video which was the Palace Artois in London, England.

In turn, TikTokers visited the location to recreate the original video, such as TikToker^[5] @joshmartinsilerio on November 4th, who received roughly 781,600 plays and 86,300 likes in one day (shown below, left). Also on November 4th, TikToker^[6] @kyarahboon27 posted a video that revealed the inside-the-pub view of @joshmartinsilerio's TikTok^[5] being filmed, earning roughly 1.9 million plays and 255,800 likes in a day (shown below, right).

During the timeframe, various memes and parodies of the original video were posted to TikTok, using the TikTok sound^[7] of "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield.
