About
Pinkydoll TikTok Lives, also known as Ice Cream So Good, Gang Gang and Yes Yes Yes, refers to the TikTok LIVE streams of TikToker Pinkydoll (@pinkydollreal) that were labeled a part of the NPC Streaming trend in July 2023. Pinkydoll's livestreams gained notoriety due to the widespread perception that they were strange or "psychotic," mostly based on her "call and response" catchphrases that coincided with tips and gifts. Her most prominent catchphrases were "gang gang," "ice cream so good," "yes yes yes" and "*slurp*" (which involved her licking thin air) that were often paired in slang overload memes and tweets. Screen recordings of her streams went viral via reposts on Twitter in mid-2023 where users discussed the strange nature of them and likened her to an NPC or Roblox character, among other comparisons.
Origin
The earliest, still-accessible TikTok[1] on Pinkydoll's account was uploaded on December 24th, 2022, and gained roughly 235,500 plays and 6,000 likes in seven months. Continuing into 2023, Pinkydoll's account grew a large following, whereby in July 2023 she'd amassed roughly 235,800 followers. A majority of her early videos were of her twerking.
Sometime in January 2023, TikToker Pinkydoll started to go LIVE on TikTok. Soon after, users on the app started to screen-record her livestreams and repost them. For instance, the first-known to do so was TikToker[2] @lingotoks on January 23rd, 2023, who wrote in text overlay, "bro wth…" and also added Mii music as the TikTok sound, humorously likening Pinkeydoll to a Nintendo Mii. The video received roughly 25,000 plays and 160 likes in six months (shown below).
Spread
More screen recordings of Pinkydoll's livestreams were posted to TikTok in early 2023. For instance, on February 9th, 2023, TikToker[3] @rohan11320 posted a Pinkydoll Live with text reading, "NPC Live," gaining roughly 32,700 plays and 200 likes in five months (shown below, left). On March 22nd, 2023, TikToker[4] @xaisbw posted a similar video, gaining roughly 86,500 plays and 300 likes in four months (shown below, right).
On July 10th, 2023, Twitter[5] user @ayeitsbritbrat1 tweeted a screen recording of a Pinkydoll Live, captioning it, "I was just scrolling TikTok and I just wanna say.. some of you bitches are literally psychotic 😭," earning roughly 54,700 likes in three days (shown below). In the video, Pinkydoll is seen saying "ice cream so good" and licking the air repeatedly, among other repetitive sounds and catchphrases.
A few hours later on July 10th, 2023, Twitter[6] user @MuseWendi tweeted a similar screen recording of Pinkydoll livestreaming, captioning it, "any time I accidentally happen upon a tiktok live, I feel like I am watching the world end." The tweet received over 67,400 likes in three days before it was deleted.
Both aforementioned tweets inspired increased awareness of Pinkydoll's Lives, resulting in more viral reposts and discourse, spreading back to viral TikTok[7] videos in July 2023. More screen recordings were reposted to Twitter in the days that followed, such as a video shared by Twitter[8] user @MarloMoneyLong on July 12th, 2023, which was captioned, "😕 I’ve never been more confused in my entire life dawg……" The tweet received roughly 13,400 likes in one day (shown below).
Parodies
The spread of the video inspired the dialogue to become a copypasta on Twitter. Multiple users posted variations on "Mmm ice cream so good," "Gang gang" and "Yes yes yes" along with pictures of pop culture characters. For example, on July 13th, user @robrousseau[9] posted the copypasta with a picture of Ryan Gosling as K in Blade Runner 2049, gaining over 3,700 retweets and 42,000 likes (shown below, left). K proved to be a popular character in the meme — the same day, user @patbits[10] posted a Blade Runner 2049 parody that gained over 20 retweets and 170 likes (shown below, right).
The same day, user @mannynotfound[11] posted a parody from The Bear, gaining over 30 retweets and 400 likes (shown below, left). User @tervoooo[12] posted a You're Laughing parody with the phrase, gaining over 180 retweets and 1,400 likes (shown below, right).
"Ice Cream So Good" Song
On July 29th, 2023, Pinkydoll uploaded an announcement to her TikTok[2] about her collaboration with the group FashionNova, with a short sample of the song, called Ice Cream So Good, which featured her famous greeting to her fans. The TikTok, which earned over 1.2 million views in two days, closed with some vocalizing and hinting at her singing ability (shown below).
Appearance At 2023 Streamy Awards / Light-Skin Baiting Accusations
On August 27th, 2023, Pinkydoll was a guest at the 2023 Streamy Awards where she presented an award with influencer Enola Bedard and did many of her catchphrases like "ice cream so good" "yes, yes, yes" and "gang, gang." The clip was uploaded to YouTube[13] by the Streamy Awards on August 28th, gaining roughly 11,000 views in one day (shown below). The clip was also uploaded to TikTok[14] by @damainsource on August 28th, gaining roughly 364,000 plays and 13,200 likes in one day.
On August 28th, 2023, TikToker[15] @sshanice.__ posted a video that reacted to the clip in which she compared and joked about the difference between Pinkydoll's skin tone in real life vs. in her videos, gaining roughly 25,200 likes in one day (shown below, left). Other viral videos on TikTok[20] and viral posts on X[16] echoed the sentiment, as well as coverage from news outlets.[17][18] Others online labeled Pinkydoll's cameo as cringe, such as TikToker[19] @iknowangelo on August 28th, gaining over 116,100 plays and 2,300 likes in a day (shown below, right).
