Photographing Something You Want To Show Everyone is an exploitable comic which jokes that women place their faces into photographs of objects while men photograph the object by itself. Parodies of the comic have been widely circulated within various meme communities, with many substituting the woman with other types of people.
Origin
On March 30th, 2010, the earliest known posting of the comic was submitted to the internet humor site JoyReactor[1] by user anon, comparing photographs of an object taken by a man and by a woman, with the female counterpart covering the object with her face (shown below).
Spread
On September 26th, 2010, a photo called "How to submit a picture to Reddit" was uploaded to Imgur [2] exposing a hand drawn version of the image (shown below), where it gained 11,247 views within nine years. On December 15th, 2011, Redditor xyz66 submitted a picture featuring the original comic to /r/funny.[3]
Since 2014, many variations of the picture got uploaded to various 4chan boards. On January 21st, 2017, a thread[4] was submitted on the /v/ (Video Games) board displaying a handful of notable examples of the fad. On February 8th, 2017, an anonymous user posted on the same board[5] an edit featuring the character Kat from the Gravity Falls video game series (shown below).
