PewDiePie's 2019 YouTube Rewind is popular YouTuber PewDiePie's own version of the 2019 installation of YouTube Rewind series. In 2019, YouTube decided to take a simpler approach and highlight a selection of videos and creators defined by number of views, likes and subscribers. In response, PewDiePie along side YouTubers FlyingKitty, Grandayy and Dolan Darker released a rewind video featuring the year's popular memes, Youtubers, and honors those creators that passed away in 2019.

Origin

On December 29th, 2019, PewDiePie released "YouTube Rewind 2019, but it's actually good" edited by FlyingKitty, Grandayy and Dolan Darker. The video features music by Party In Backyard and custom clips by CallMeCarsonLIVE, twomad, SethEverman and Pyrocynical (shown below). The video gained over seven million views and 1.8 million likes in a day.

On December 29th, 2019, many Redditors began posting positive responses to r/pewdiepiesubmissions. Redditor ADAMWARLOCK707's post to r/pewdiepiesubmissions^[1] received over 7,600 points (96% Upvoted) in a day (shown below, left). Twitter users also responded positively. The next day, Twitter user @lissahabibti^[2] tweeted a still from the video with the caption, "youtube rewind by pewdiepie was so much better than the original one" (shown below, right). That day, Dexerto^[3] reported on the video.
