The Perc 10 Dance, also known as the Perky Dance, refers to a dance trend on TikTok that uses the song "Perc & Sex" by YN Jay and has the primary lyrics, "How the fuck did you pull up to the motherfuckin' party and forget the percs? Perc 10 I Just Popped a Perc 10." The Michigan rap song inherently references the prescription drug Percocet, also known in memes as the Perc 30. The Perc 10 TikTok trend and dance became notable in early 2023 and involved the dancer lip-dubbing the lyrics and then moving their hips slowly in a circle while holding the front of their belt.

Origin

On December 17th, 2022, TikToker^[1] jackfunny313 posted a video in which the camera panned over to him holding his belt and swaying his hips to the song "Perc & Sex" by YN Jay.^[2] TikToker jackfunny313 wrote in the video's description, "Let Me Do My Perky Dance," and over the course of one month, the video received roughly 687,100 plays and 98,400 likes (shown below).

On December 18th, 2022, TikToker^[3] whoisdukecapone posted his own iteration of jackfunny313's "perky dance," gaining roughly 202,000 plays and 42,700 likes in one month (shown below, left). The trend was reiterated going into January 2023 and became more viral as time went on. For instance, on January 10th, 2022, TikToker^[4] paid.mxrc posted a video of himself and others doing the dance, gaining roughly 843,500 plays and 189,200 likes in 17 days (shown below, right).

Going into January 2023, the dance trend became more viral and mainstream as various TikTokers participated. For instance, on January 18th, 2022, TikToker^[5] robboomontaine_ posted a video of himself angrily lip-dubbing the song's first part (How the fuck did you pull up to the motherfuckin' party and forget the percs?) and then doing the "perky dance." Over the course of nine days, the video received roughly 5.7 million plays and 1.2 million likes (shown below).

Around the same time, the song "Perc & Sex" by YN Jay started receiving meme attention on Twitter as many found the dance trend engaging and the song's lyrics catchy. For instance, on January 19th, 2023, Twitter^[6] user Jefebanks_ reposted a video of SpongeBob and his pet snail Gary dancing and singing the song, gaining roughly 23,500 views and 1,300 likes in eight days (shown below).
