Zhang Yong is a gimmick account known for his satirical and sardonic tweets on X / Twitter. The account takes on the persona of a young Chinese man in the United States, often tweeting in broken English or Mandarin. The account has gathered a notable following online despite facing several bans and suspensions. The persona may be likened to Pakalu Papito / Xavier.
Origin
While it is unclear when Zhang Yong opened his first X / Twitter account, the image used for his profile picture originates from a stock video posted by Fractal Pictures in 2021.[1]
The subreddit /r/ZhangYong[2] was created on July 21st, 2021, however, the account @zhang_yong1 was deleted in October 2021.

A new X / Twitter account featuring posts by the Zhang Yong persona was created in April 2023, named @ZhangYong02.[4] It is unclear if the account is manned by the original administrator.
On February 14th, 2024, Zhang Yong[5] quoted a meme showing Twomad in meme heaven amid discourse about his death, writing, "he is not going there," and gathering over 150,000 likes in a week (seen below, left). On February 20th, X[6] user @sleepsop wrote, "shoutout zhang yong for sending me pirated adobe software," alongside a screenshot of the interaction. The post gathered over 50,000 likes in two days (seen below, right).
