About

Yssn Nino, known on TikTok as @yssn_nino_official, is a TikToker most known for his uses of the greenscreen effect overtop viral videos in which he says his catchphrases "rumor says" or "What? I ain't never knew this," and then proceeds to say an outrageous, made-up fact about what's occurring in the video. He then tells the viewer, "Yo! Text your mom this!" which is another one of his notable catchphrases. He gained a large following throughout 2021 and 2022 on the platform, attracting duets and impersonators who mimicked his video style. He's also known for his rap music, specifically his "ABC Song" which he promotes in every video.

Background

Yssn Nino lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2014, he launched a record label called Kay Visions. In 2018, Nino was a brand ambassador for the designer clothing brand Milano di Rouge.[2] This was around the same time that he started releasing rap music. On October 11th, he uploaded this video (seen below) to YouTube[12] of himself answering many questions about his life, and received 725 views in 10 days.

Online History

On July 2nd, 2017, Yssn Nino uploaded his first video to YouTube,[3] the audio for his song "Finally Free" alongside rapper K2. Over the course of five years, the video received roughly 12,200 views. On August 26th, 2017, he uploaded his first music video to YouTube[13], a song called "Had Enough," gaining roughly 8,100 views in five years (shown below, left). Two years later, on January 17th, 2019, he uploaded the music video for his song "Fortnite" to his YouTube[14] channel, which earned roughly 123,300 views in three years (shown below, right).

TikTok Accounts

Around the same time that he was dropping the aforementioned music videos in late 2019, Yssn Nino had a semi-viral TikTok page with a different handle, evident in TikTok[3] fan pages about him during that time. This TikTok account that he owned in 2019, however, was banned on the platform. In his 2022 TikTok[4] bio, Nino alleged that the account had amassed roughly 1.4 million followers before being banned.

On July 6th, 2022, Nino posted his first TikTok[5] to his new account (@yssn_nino_official) gaining roughly 3,700 plays in three months. The video was a reposted stitch of his viral "They Be Using Apple Juice As Floor Cleaner" TikTok, emphasizing how it cemented his greenscreen video style and catchphrases going in 2022.

"They Be Using Apple Juice As Floor Cleaner"

One of Nino's first viral TikToks on his original account was when he green-screened himself in front of a DIY house cleaning video in which the oil used looked like apple juice. Although the original video has since been removed, multiple stitches with it still exist in which creators showed text messages they sent to their moms about "apple juice as floor cleaner" as per Nino's rhetorical request, such as this TikTok[15] stitch by @pipertq (seen below) that earned 49,300 likes in three months.

For example, on July 17th, 2022, Yssn Nino posted a TikTok[6] in which he stated, "Rumor says if you fry two fish outside, they're not fish anymore, they're 'land creatures?' Put 'land creatures' in the comment section and follow my new account." Over the course of three months, the video received roughly 249,500 plays and 28,000 likes (shown below, left).
