About

Young Money Clan is a Fortnite clan run by YouTuber and player RIPS that has a large presence on TikTok. The clan often participates in wars with other Fortnite clans and posts content to TikTok on the @youngmoneyclan page, including gameplay footage, advertisements for their clan wars and videos introducing new members. The clan became the subject of trolling and memes in 2021, mainly consisting of children and the videos being narrated by a child. In late 2021, the clan's founder RIPS was accused of using a young family member's voice or a voice changer for the videos and pretending to be a child in order to recruit more children into the clan. Young Money Clan has over 240,000 followers on TikTok as of October 2021.

History

RIPS, or Ripsucker, started posting Fortnite content to TikTok in January 2020, mostly gameplay footage set to various songs. On April 27th, the @youngmoneyclan TikTok[3] page posted its first video featuring a high-pitched voiced narrator, assumedly RIPS, asking viewers what the highest number of "elims" they've got in a match. The page continued to post Fortnite content consistently using the same narrator, often showing gameplay from their matches and posting general entertainment videos (examples shown below). The page is often trolled in the comments for the narrator's voice.

On June 20th, 2021 RIPS confirmed that they started Young Money Clan in an upload to the RIPS YouTube channel showing a clan war (shown below).

Clan Wars

The RIPS YouTube channel hosts full videos of Young Money Clan's clan wars, which often run multiple hours long. On September 11th, Young Money Clan had a war with Demon Squad (shown below, left). On September 26th the clan had a war with PALM.HQS (shown below, right).

Young Money Squad won their war with Demon Squad, which was announced in a TikTok[5] video posted on September 11th, 2021, gaining over 3.7 million views in a month (shown below, left). The video inspired a lot of ironic Duets where people hope and pray for Young Money Clan to win then overreact with joy at the announcement (example shown below, right).

On October 9th, Young Money Clan went up against Wee Wee clan and was defeated 4:5. The clan war was uploaded in three parts to the RIPS channel on October 10th (shown below).

Voice Changer Controversy

In September 2021 a group DM including RIPS leaked showing two people accusing RIPS of using a "family member's voice" to pretend to be a child (shown below). RIPS responds "I'm not pretending to be anyone, RIPS is a brand, many people works on it." The DM was shared in a video posted to TikTok[1] by @younggmoneyclan (not to be confused with @youngmoneyclan) on September 19th, gaining over 173,000 views in a month. The DM leads some to believe he gets a younger family member to voice the videos. Others believe he uses voice-changing software to make himself sound like a child in order to more easily recruit young children to the clan. It is unknown if the DM is legitimate.

On September 20th, Young Money Clan posted a video to TikTok[6] where two members defend RIPS, starting "I will not let hate pass me." The boys defend RIPS as their clan leader. The video gained over 700,000 views in just under a month (shown below).

Most of RIPS YouTube[2] videos are voiceless, however, an upload on September 21st, 2021 starts with an older man's voice speaking in an accent, as well as the usual younger voice later on. It is possible that the older voice is RIPS real voice, although this is speculation (shown below, left). On September 23rd, YouTuber[4] Synoptic posted a video diving into the controversy (shown below, right).
