About

Yasin Cengiz, also known as YasinCengiz, @yasincengiz38 or @yasincengiz0038, is a Turkish TikToker known for his belly-bouncing dance to the song "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King (which is also known phonetically as Brr Skibidi Dop Dop Dop Dop Yes Yes Yes Yes). Cengiz popularized the song and his dance trend in 2022, continuing into 2023 as he gained various copycats and memes. In February 2023, a Yasin Cengiz death rumor and hoax spread on TikTok and elsewhere that alleged that he died during the 2023 Turkey earthquake. However, the rumor was debunked and it was proved that Yasin Cengiz was alive.

Online History

On March 5th, 2021, Yasin Cengiz posted his first TikTok[1] video to his account @yasincengiz38, showing himself doing a belly bounce dance to a song that wasn't "Dom Dom Yes Yes" (which he'd later become known for). Over the course of two years, the TikTok received roughly 10.7 million plays and 257,400 likes (shown below, left). About a year later, on April 8th, 2022, Cengiz posted a TikTok[2] that was his first to use the song "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King[3] as the sound. The video received roughly 29.2 million plays and 944,600 likes in ten months (shown below, right).

"Dom Dom Yes Yes" / "Brr Skibidi Dop Dop Dop Dop Yes Yes Yes Yes" TikTok Trend

Thereafter, Yasin Cengiz made "Dom Dom Yes Yes" his primary sound, snowballing his virality into a viral dance trend that was replicated by others in mid-2022. For instance, on June 10th, 2022, TikToker[4] @mahmoudmahe.r posted a parody of Cengiz by stuffing a pillow into his shirt, earning roughly 9.5 million plays and 286,600 likes in eight months (shown below, left). Starting in October 2022,[5] a TikToker named @skititi.bum101 started rivaling Yasin Cengiz's virality with the sound. For instance, on November 17th, 2022, TikToker[6] @skititi.bum101 posted a video that received roughly 64.7 million plays and 7.6 million likes in three months (shown below, right).

2023 Turkey Earthquake Death Rumor

In February 2023, a Yasin Cengiz death rumor surfaced that alleged the TikToker had died in the 2023 Turkish earthquake that affected the southern part of the country.[7] The rumor was started by a TikTok[8] posted in early February that showed a fake Instagram post about Cengiz's death. However, the rumor was debunked when Cengiz posted an Instgram story that showed his then-current whereabouts.

Following

By February 16th, 2023, Yasin Cengiz had amassed roughly 7.6 million followers on TikTok[8] and roughly 813,000 followers on Instagram.[9]
