About

Woolie Madden is a Canadian/Grenadian YouTuber and Twitch streamer, known for his participation on the Super Best Friends Play throughout much of the 2010s, of which he was one of the most common collaborators and a later member. He is also a competitive fighting game player, best known for his love of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

History

Prior to the launch of Super Best Friends Play, Woolie was original channel members' Matt and Pat's mutual friend. Woolie was also the first person that Matt asked to play Kirby's Epic Yarn for the pilot of Two Best Friends Play but he declined since he was busy watching a stream of Street Fighter 4.[1] He later joined them as a usual collaborator a part of the team on November 23rd, 2014. On December 16th, 2018, Super Best Friends announced the dissolution of the channel. According to Woolie, Matt and Pat were no longer friends and that each member of the group was growing more passionate about their side projects than the main channel.

Online Presence

After the dissolution of the Super Best Friends Play, Woolie began focusing on his own YouTube channel called WoolieVersus,[2] where he uploads his own playthroughs alongside his co-host Reggie and Minh (also known as Billy, the previous editor for the Super Best Friends), fighting game showcases/lessons and discusses the lore of different series like Kirby or ReBoot. The channel has 155,000 subscribers as of February 23rd, 2020. Woolie also has his own Twitch channel[3] with 46,800 subscribers, where he streams the playthroughs that are later edited to be uploaded to YouTube. Besides this, he also runs a Podcast alongside Pat, named Castle Super Beast[4] continuing their work from the Super Best Friendcast, the podcast the Super Best Friends used to do.

When's Mahvel?

When's Mahvel? is an intentionally misspelled quote popularized by streamer and Let's Player Woolie Madden during his time with the Super Best Friends Play channel. The quote, an offshoot of the Mahvel, Baybee! meme, was used as a running gag as Woolie begged to play Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the channel.

Woolie The Liar Stole My Pie

In Part 25 of the Deadly Premonition Let's Play, at 9:40 in the video, Matt and Pat tell a story about "Wendell" and Woolie having an argument over McDonald's pies. Wendell apparently received a pie he did not want out of a group of them and claimed, "Woolie cheated and stole all the good pies" leading Pat to proclaim, "Woolie the liar stole my pie." Matt then requested for fans to post on their Facebook page photoshops and pictures of Woolie the Liar Stole My Pie. It has become Headcanon that Woolie is a habitual liar and that he is always out to steal someone's pie.

Woolie Ignores Two Hot Bisexual Women for Marvel vs. Capcom 3

On February 14th, 2011, Woolie apparently crossed paths with a pair of bisexual girls coming from a Valentine's date on his way to the midnight release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. After a while, they started hitting on Woolie but he left fearing that copies of the game would run out, after getting up and leaving Woolie hated himself for his foolishness. A retold of the story by Woolie's own words was uploaded to YouTube by Darklyte[5] on the same day (shown below), said video got 484,000 views in the coming years. The story got so much attention that articles on Destructoid[6] and Kotaku were created and the event is heavily referenced by the Best Friends Zaibatsu on their videos.
