Origin

Nova created his YouTube channel on April 4th, 2008 and uploaded his first video on June 13th, 2008. The video was a clip of the Over 9000 scene from Dragonball Z Burst Limit with the native game audio replaced with that from the original dub of the anime (shown below).

Online Presence

On Tumblr he is tagged under both UberHaxorNova[1] as well as his secondary pseudonym, Paragon Nova.[2] His official Facebook page has over 180,000 likes.[3] As of May 2015, Nova has nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube. On August 2, 2011, Nova uploaded a video entitled "WOOL" (shown below). As of May 2015 the video is the most viewed video on Nova's channel, with 7.5 million views.

On October 8th, 2011, Nova uploaded the first episode in his Happy Wheels series (shown below left). The series quickly helped Nova to gain a wider audience. Several months later, on February 1st, 2012, YouTuber PewDiePie began uploading his own playthrough of the samegame. Fans of each YouTuber began to clash over who owned the concept of this playthrough, and who's was better. Eventually, Nova and PewDiePie collaborated on a video to quiet the trolls, but continued to createup controversy (shown below right).[4]

Fandom

On YouTube, various YouTubers upload clips of Nova to their channel both as the standalone clips and compilation videos. On December 1st, 2012, YouTuber NinjaKangaskhan uploaded a compilation of Nova's "best" moments (shown below left). NinjaKangaskhan uploaded a second compilation on September 2nd, 2013, this time including clips in which Nova is featured with fellow Creature ImmortalHD (shown below left).

On November 9th, 2014, YouTuber BBQ Ball Variety uploaded a compilation of Nova's rage fits (shown below, left). As of May 2015, the video has over 200,000 views. He has also been recorded "raging" at real life events in which he can be seen, such as the 2013 DICE awards, in which he can be heard yelling during a conversation with host Chris Hardwick (shown below, right).

Appearance in Other Media

Aside from the fan feud with PewDiePie, his playthrough of Happy Wheels gained enough attention that the game's creator Jim Bonacci, included Nova as a playable character, the "Pogostick Man" (shown below).

He was also included in the YouTuber Pack 1 DLC for the game "SpeedRunners" . His character is depicted as the "Novapolitan", a reference to an appearance he made on Twitch for charity where he dyed his hair pink and his beard yellow.

The Gay Tony

In his various Minecraft playthroughs, Nova will occasionally jump off of a high cliff into a body of water while spinning and making noises to the rhythm of the song "Pjanoo" by Eric Pryds. The title is in reference to the game mod Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony.
