About

Sway House is a TikTok house, formed in January 2020, comprised of eight influencers living in an LA mansion. The members Josh Richards, Bryce Hall, Jaden Hossler, Anthony Reeve, Qgriggs, Griffin Johnson, Kio Cyr and Nick Bean were chosen by talent agency TalentX to live together. The house is known for their presence on TikTok and Instagram as well as their challenge videos. In May 2020, the Sway House made headlines after two members were arrested for drug possession.

Online History

On January 5th, the Instagram[1] account Swayla posted a photo of the group in a moving van with the caption, "Welcome to the party. @talentxent" which gained over 150,000 likes in four months (shown below).

That same day, the TikTok account @theswayla uploaded their first video together (shown below, left). The video garnered 929,000 likes in four months (shown below, left). The group continued to post videos of themselves primarily lip-syncing and participating in TikTok trends. For example, TikTokers @theswayla posted a lip-sync video a week after their introduction which received over 1.3 million likes in four months (shown below, right).

On January 27th, YouTube account Sway LA uploaded the video "Welcome To The SWAY House | SWAY LA" which gained over 1.8 million views in four months (shown below, left). On February 3rd, they uploaded another video of the members participating in a "most likely" challenge and received over 1.8 million views in three months (shown below, right).

Reputation

As of May 2020, Sway House has over 3.2 million followers on TikTok,[9] 1.2 Milion followers on Instagram[7] and 433,000 subscribers on YouTube.[8]

Arrests

On May 25th, 2020, according to Insider,[4] two members, Jaden Hossler and Bryce Hall were arrested in Texas while on a road trip. They were arrested for possession of marijuana and an unspecified group two penalty drug. Insider stated that "Hossler was charged with a second-degree felony, punishable by two to 20 years in state prison or a fine of up to $10,000. He was being held on an $11,500 bond." On May 26th, Instagram account TikTokroom[5] reposted a comment made by Hossler's father in response to his son's arrest (shown below, left). The post garnered over 77,300 likes in a day. That same day, Twitter users began to use the hashtag #freesway. For example, Twitter user @bxby_voni[6] tweeted, "jaden is still young and already has such a big career it actually sucks to have to think about this whole mans success being ruined over marijuana! #freejaden #freesway" and received over 900 likes in a day (shown below, right). The Daily Dot[2] and EOnline[3] also published articles covering the arrest. Both TikTokers are out on bail.
