About

Steppa60 is a TikToker (@steppa60.steppa60) who wears a "Perc 30" basketball jersey and snapback cap. He's most known for his avant-garde TikTok videos in which he self-inserts into many meme templates and deep-fried filters, parodying trap music, drill music and hypebeast signifiers. He's built a niche "cult of personality" on the app, similar to Undertime Slopper or Debo on Twitter. His TikTok sounds have also gone viral, the most notable being "Swag Messiah." He started uploading content in early 2022.

TikToker Steppa60 posted his first still-accessible TikTok[1] on February 20th, 2022, which made an edit using I Love Lean!!! adjacent image macros, earning roughly 37,600 plays and 3,800 likes in ten months (shown below, left). Two months later, on April 4th, 2022, Steppa60 posted his first TikTok[2] that reached over 1 million plays, earning roughly 1.2 million plays and 294,900 likes in eight months (shown below, right). The video was self-referential, generating imagined hype around his character by inserting himself into image macros and templates, such as a photo with Chicago drill rapper Chief Keef.

Thereafter, Steppa60's videos earned more engagement, becoming more abstract and self-referential as time went on. Steppa60 also began to talk in his videos, spouting nonsensical yet inspirational messages. For instance, on August 17th, 2022, he posted a TikTok[3] that earned roughly 2.1 million plays and 556,700 likes in four months (shown below, left). As Steppa60 gained more followers, he started receiving fan edits made by other creators. For instance, an early fan edit was uploaded on March 23rd, 2022 by TikToker[4] kidcudisbrother, gaining roughly 40,700 plays and 7,700 likes in nine months (shown below, right).

Swag Messiah

On August 16th, 2022, Steppa60 uploaded a TikTok[5] that used the Joeyy song soundbite Legalize Nuclear Bombs followed by his own soundbite of a deep, male voice saying "Swag Messiah." Over the course of four months, the TikTok[5] received roughly 1.9 million plays and 359,500 likes (shown below, left). Multiple creators began using the sound[6] which resulted in over 13,600 videos in four months. For instance, on August 24th, 2022, TikToker[7] struggletees used the sound to show his shirts that go hard, gaining roughly 1.7 million plays and 396,300 likes in four months (shown below, right).
