Sketch, also known as TheSketchReal or Sketch Madden, is an American Twitch streamer, YouTuber and TikToker known for streaming Madden, the NFL video game. Sketch's streaming career started in 2023. Going into 2024, Sketch started collaborating with fellow streamer Jynxzi. Sketch is from Houston, Texas and is often shown wearing glasses and a Houston Texans jersey. Sketch went viral for his catchphrases and accompanying gestures that he commonly cycled through on stream. Most notably, his usage of "What's Up Brother?" accompanied by pointing his index finger up earned him mainstream attention in sports meme circles. Other famous Sketch phrases are "Tuesday, Tuesday," "Special teams, special plays, special players," and "Evil MrBeast, all I do is take."

Background

In a March 2024 podcast with streamer Jynxzi,[1] Sketch revealed that he grew up in Houston, Texas and still lived there. He went to four different colleges in under two years but eventually didn't complete his higher education. He started streaming when he got a new PC. According to other clips on TikTok,[2][3] he's purportedly 25 years old.

Online History

In the March 2024 podcast with Jynxzi,[1] Sketch revealed that he started on Twitch and then pivoted to TikTok Live in 2023. He told Jynxzi that he "posted other people's videos" on TikTok until he reached over 6,000 followers. Then he started going Live on the platform. His first, still-accessible TikTok[4] video was posted on September 30th, 2023, gaining over 128,200 plays and 2,300 likes in seven months.

His first TikTok[5] to cross a million plays was posted on October 20th, 2023, gaining over 1.1 million plays and 72,500 likes in six months (shown below, left).

In his podcast interview with Jynxzi,[1] Sketch said that his first viral clip posted by another account showed him "cleaning" fellow streamer Zach Lewis' "nuts" (shown below, right). It was originally clipped by an unknown account sometime in late 2023.

On October 29th, 2023, Sketch shared his first, still-accessible post on Instagram,[6] gaining over 3,200 likes in six months (shown below, left).

In early 2024, his posts on both Instagram and TikTok received increased engagement, evident in a Texans meme shared by Sketch to Instagram[7] on January 18th, 2024, receiving over 42,500 likes in three months (shown below, right).

On November 26th, 2023, Sketch posted his first video to his YouTube[7] channel, gaining over 22,000 views in five months (shown below).

Collabs With Jynxzi

On December 27th, 2023, Sketch posted a video to YouTube[8] that was his first stream with fellow streamer Jynxzi, gaining over 755,000 views in four months (shown below, left).

The two collabed on more viral streams going into January 2024, including e-dates.[8] On March 8th, 2024, Sketch posted a YouTube[9] video of himself meeting Jynxzi in person for the first time, receiving over 493,200 views in a month (shown below, right).

Streaming with Jynxzi led to Sketch collabing with other popular streamers like Caseoh and Kai Cenat. [10][11]

Fandom

Sketch's fanbase notably grew in late 2023, evident in viral TikToks about his content posted during the timeframe. For instance, on December 22nd, 2023, TikToker[12] @moschinodorito posted an impersonation of Sketch, writing in the video's description, "my new favorite streamer," receiving over 5.1 million plays and 773,400 likes in four months (shown below, left).

In 2024, Sketch's fanbase grew more, evident in a video posted by TikToker[13] @jacksenlunaa on March 20th, 2024, who did his own Sketch impersonation, receiving over 4.1 million plays and 423,000 likes in two weeks (shown below, right).

What's Up Brother? Tuesday Tuesday

Sketch 'What's Up Brother?' continued Tuesday, Tuesday, refers to one of Sketch's catchphrases. When he says the phrase, he points his finger up. He then bumps his fists while saying, "Tuesday, Tuesday." The phrase became well-known among sports meme circles and male internet users who impersonated Sketch on TikTok in 2024. A trend started when girlfriends asked their boyfriends, "What's up brother?" with their finger up to see their boyfriend's reaction. Sketch's catchphrase is often symbolized by the nerd emoji combo "πŸ€“β˜οΈ."

By April 3rd, 2024, Sketch had amassed over 1.3 million followers on TikTok,[14] over 249,000 subscribers on YouTube,[15] over 612,000 followers on Twitch[16] and over 310,000 followers on Instagram.[17]
