Reputation
Shigeru Miyamoto joined Nintendo in 1977, and he has made many innovations in the video game industry. He was once called the father of modern video games[1]. His franchises have made billions of dollars[2], and some of his games are considered by many to be the greatest of all time[3]. Super Mario Bros. is one of the best-selling in history[4], and played a huge part in saving the industry from the crash of 1983[5]. Another example is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which has received very high review scores from both critics and gamers. Shigeru's creations (and therefore, Shigeru himself) are the origins of the Mario and Zelda internet subcultures.
Shigeru currently has his own fan pages on Facebook[6], Fanpop[7] and Tumblr[8]. In 2008, he was voted to first place in Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of the year[9].
