Roger Watson, also known as the Rooster Watson or the No Neck Guy, is a TikToker (@rogerwatsonauthor1974), Instagram user (@roosterthagoat) and self-proclaimed author who has gone viral for his overweight appearance shown in viral videos. Watson is a white man with a big neck, making it appear that he has no neck or chin. Watson films most of his videos in the car with sunglasses on. In February 2024, he went largely viral for a video in which he said, "I want to ask you something… Did I fail you as a creator?" The video was reposted en masse on Twitter / X and Instagram, leading to memes and posts that compared him to Jabba the Hutt and Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars. Others made jokes about him Mewing, calling him the "Mew God." Watson was first known as a frequent caller on The Howard Stern Show under the name Rooster Watson.

Online History

Roger Watson's online presence started in 2020 when he posted his first Instagram[1] photo on February 9th, 2020. Around the same, on January 23rd, 2020, Watson published his fifth book on Amazon[2] titled They Live Among Us (shown below, left). Watson used his full legal name (Roger Dale Watson Jr.) as the author's name.

Watson's first book was published in October 2019,[3] titled Love Letters. Other books of his are his third book called Project H.A.L.T.: Humans & Aliens Living Together (shown below, right).

On October 13th, 2021, Watson posted his first video to TikTok.[4] It achieved viral success, gaining over 6.6 million plays and 85,900 likes in three years (shown below, left).

Watson's next videos uploaded in late 2021 also achieved virality, like one TikTok [5] posted on December 7th, 2021, that received over 48 million plays and 2.7 million likes in three years (shown below, right).

From 2022 to 2024, Watson's TikToks didn't achieve virality with most of his videos posted during the timeframe only gaining 1,000 plays each. Instead, Watson's Instagram Reels achieved more virality, specifically in late 2023 and early 2024.

For instance, on January 6th, 2024, Watson posted a Reel to Instagram[6] that received over 8.5 million views and 270,000 likes in one month (shown below).

"Did I Fail You As A Creator?" Video

On January 14th, 2024, Watson posted a Reel to Instagram[7] that amassed over 15.8 million views and 240,500 likes in one month (shown below). In the video, Watson is wearing sunglasses, sitting in his car and talking to the viewer, staring by saying, "I wanna ask you something." He proceeds to ask, "Did I fail you as a creator?"

I wanna ask you something and I want you to be honest with yourself. Only the people who thought about what I’m about to say comment. If you comment some horse shit, I’m not gonna take you serious. If you comment some dumb shit, I’m not gonna take you serious. But I really want you to ask yourself, did I fail you as a creator? Or did y’all fail me as followers?

On January 28th, 2024, Watson's video was reposted by TikToker[8] @jabirdmemes, gaining over 22.1 million plays and 1.6 million likes in 17 days.

On February 8th, 2024, X[9] user @GreatWallNet reposted the video, captioned, "Bro can't be strangled," receiving over 8,000 likes in six days (shown below, left). Then, on February 10th, 2024, X[10] user @Logically_JC posted the video, captioned, "Whenever I’m tempted to argue with MAGA, I keep in mind that this is on the other end," receiving over 14,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).
