Online History

Canada1st Party

Romana Didulo began her political and social media presence on July 25th, 2020, when she created the website[1] for the Canada1st Party. The political party is an unregistered, federal party in the country and is generally opposed to progressive socialist and liberal ideologies, as well as, what it describes as, the UN's and globalists' plans to turn Canada into a third-world country.[1]

The Telegram[2] page for the Canada1st Party was additionally created in mid-2020, whereby in August 2022, it had amassed roughly 17,000 members. On November 20th, 2020, Didulo uploaded the Canada1st Party's first YouTube[3] video, being a self-proclaimed "Intro Video" for the party's goals and values. In it, Didulo speaks to the viewer, reiterating Donald Trump catchphrases like, "Drain The Swamp." In a year and a half, the video received roughly 24,100 views (shown below).

Romana Didulo QAnon

On May 30th, 2021, Didulo uploaded her first YouTube[4] video on her personal channel that outlined why she was the true commander-in-chief of Canada, as well as namedropped QAnon and QAnon-related conspiracy theories regarding hidden cabals and power rings of the global elite at work in Canada. Over the course of one year, the video received roughly 14,000 views (shown below, left). She uploaded a second video to YouTube[5] on May 30th, reiterating the same statements. This secondary video also received roughly 14,000 views in the same time period (shown below, right).

According to an article from Vice [6] published on June 17th, 2021, the aforementioned QAnon tone of Didulo's rhetoric was new at the time. According to Vice, it was only weeks prior that "several well-known QAnon figures" such as Charlie Ward and Whiplash347 helped anoint her as a leader, therefore boosting her Telegram following to roughly 20,000 members at the time.[6]

Cease and Desist

From her newfound QAnon support at the time, Didulo urged her followers to submit "cease and desist" orders to businesses, schools, retirement homes, police stations, hospitals, etc., where COVID-19 safety requirements like vaccines were in place for people to enter. Besides videos being shared on Telegram, some landed on YouTube, like one video uploaded by YouTuber Frank Curtin on June 5th, 2021, that received roughly 32,200 views in one year (shown below, left).

GoFundMe Campaigns

In July 2021, Didulo organized a GoFundMe campaign that has since been deleted. Its description read, "Hi, I am Queen Romana of Canada. I am Fundraising to build Homes for Families in BC, Canada who lost their Homes to BC wildfire," however, where the money was going was never specifically confirmed on the page. This was reported by Vice[7] in an article published on July 28th, 2021, when at the time, the campaign had received over $50,000 in donations.

After Vice reported on it, GoFundMe moderators reviewed the campaign and eventually labeled it as fraudulent, first freezing the funds and then entirely deleting the campaign from the website. An email was sent to Didulo about the cancelation that was later shared on Imgur[8] (shown below).

Calls For Followers To "Kill" People Vaccinating Children

On November 21st, 2021, Didulo told her Telegram followers in a post,[9] "Duck Hunting Season in the Kingdom of Canada Opens Tomorrow – Monday, 11 /22 / 2021 at 6:00AM!!!" According to the news outlet AntiHate Canada,[10] Didulo was reportedly calling for violence against teachers, politicians, nurses, social workers, doctors and “everyone and anyone assisting in the injecting of coronavirus bioweapon into children.” Didulo also purportedly referenced the use of "firing squads" and "hanging" as forms of punishment for the described "ducks."

Ultimately no real-world violence came from her declaration, however, her followers still voiced their support on Telegram.

Peterborough Police Arrests

On August 10th, 2022, Didulo wrote to her followers on Telegram[11] about "Saturday the 13th," declaring that on August 13th, her followers within the Peterborough, Ontario area were going to hand "over the members of the Peterborough Police Department to the Military." They would be "gathering at Confederation Park one block from the police station" and performing a "peaceful citizens arrest" of the police. The message received roughly 13,800 views in five days (shown below).

On August 13th, Didulo and 12 others gathered at Confederation Park in Peterborough. Twitter user CarymaRules tweeted a video on August 13th, 2022, approaching Didulo's RV and trying to interview her. The video received roughly 13,700 views in two days (shown below, top). Another video from the event was uploaded by Twitter user CarymaRules showing the 12 protestors marching and speaking in front of the Peterborough Police Station, earning roughly 24,600 views in two days (shown below, bottom).

Twitter user CarymaRules uploaded another video that showed counter-protestors approaching the scene later on and having verbal arguments with Didulo's supporters. In two days, the video received roughly 181,100 views and over 1,800 likes (shown below).

Ultimately, the protests didn't lead to any citizen arrests but did lead to the arrest of Didulo's protestors. A video of an arrest was tweeted by Twitter user MackLamoureux on August 13th, 2022, earning roughly 21,000 views in two days (shown below).
