Puddles Pity Party is a character created by Atlanta, Georgia singer and entertainer Mike Geier most well known for appearing in several viral videos in which he is dressed as a sad clown and sings popular songs in a melodramatic jazz vocal style.

History

Puddles Pity Party first appeared in Aqua Teen Hunger Force's 2010 tour.^[1] A video from that tour was uploaded to his YouTube account on November 23rd, 2011, marking his first upload (shown below). He also opened for alternative rock band The Eels in 2013.

PostModern Jukebox Videos

Puddles first gained widespread online attention following a video in which he covered Lorde's Royals for PostModern Jukebox, uploaded October 31st, 2013. As of June 1st, 2017, the video has over 19 million views (shown below, top left). Puddles went on to do several videos for the channel, with many gaining millions of views. Some include Mad World (shown below, top right), "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay (shown below, bottom left), and "Chandelier" by Sia (shown below, bottom right). The videos on Puddles' own YouTube channel^[2] have not gained as many views, but he has amassed over 103,000 subscribers.

America's Got Talent Appearance

On May 30th, 2017, Puddles appeared on an episode of America's Got Talent where he performed "Chandelier." The audience gave him a standing ovation halfway through his performance, and the judges all gave him a "Yes" vote. The event was covered by Uproxx,^[3] Atlanta Magazine^[4] and more.
