Pomu Rainpuff is an English-speaking VTuber contracted to the NIJISANJI production company. Rainpuff, who uses the persona of being a fairy who used to live in a forest, has steadily drawn a notable audience and grown her VTuber brand since her start in 2021. On January 5th, 2024, her graduation was announced to be on January 20th, 2024, resulting in increased virality surrounding the content creator online.

Career

Rainpuff began her streaming career on YouTube, with her first stream being on May 15th, 2021. The introduction stream^[1] in which she gave the lore of her character before appearing and singing before talking to the chat about her character model, her future plans, and things she likes and doesn't like, earned over 275,000 views in two years (shown below).

Online History

Pomu Rainpuff began to have clips from her stream go viral for her over-the-top reactions in 2021. For example, on November 4th, 2021, while streaming herself playing the game Escape From Hotel Izanami and losing her progress due to a game over, Rainpuff began to hurl obscenities and make threats to the character, which went viral on the fan-run YouTube channel Pomu's Sweat^[2] (shown below).

2024 Graduation Announcement

On January 5th, 2024, the official X account for @NIJISANJI EN^[3] posted a notice that indicated that Pomu Rainpuff would officially graduate from VTubing on January 20th, 2024. All merchandise, physical and virtual, would continue to be sold until February, and all clips and videos would remain up, but the character would no longer exist.

The announcement led to many fans posting their favorite Rainpuff clips and talking about what Rainpuff could be doing next as her retirement from being a VTuber spread online over the following days (example shown below).
