Macka B is the stage name of British reggae artist Christopher MacFarlane, best known for his songs praising the benefits of healthy eating and veganism.
Online History
On December 10th, 2001, the site MackaB.com was launched. On March 1st, 2010, the official Macka B Facebook page was launched, which garnered upwards of 393,000 likes over the next eight years. On July 21st, 2011, Macka B's official YouTube channel uploaded a music video for the song "Wha Me Eat," in which he praises the benefits of veganism (shown below, left). On April 10th, 2014, Macka B released an animated music video for his song "Medical Marijuana Card" (shown below, right). On June 27th, 2015, the @officialmackab Instagram[1] page was created, which gained over 129,000 followers over the next several years.
Cucumber Song
On March 6th, 2017, Macka B uploaded a video to Facebook[2] in which he raps about cucumbers (shown below). Within six months, the video gained over 2.8 million views 35,000 shares and 14,000 comments.
Two days later, the Life-Long Happiness YouTube channel reuploaded the "Cucumber" song. On March 13th, Macka B uploaded an "official remix" of the song (shown below, left). On March 19th, the pop culture news site Mass Appeal[3] published an interview with Macka B about the viral sucess of the "Cucumber" video. On March 29th, the CHM Studio YouTube channel uploaded a remix of the song by artist Martin Jensen (shown below, right).
