About
Karens Going Wild, also known as the instagram handle @karensgoingwild, is a social media account used to showcase middle-aged white women exhibiting socially questionable levels of entitlement and privilege through videos of public displays of outrage.
History
On May 15th, 2020, Riley Beek and Blake Bell rebranded their account @baehub to @KarenGoingWild. Within six days, the account, which originally had 1.3 million followers, jumped to 1.6 million followers (example below).[1][2]
Four days later, the pair launched a sibling account called @kevinsgoingwild, highlighting instances of men displaying public outrage. The first post received more than 173,000 views in less than one month (shown below).
On May 26th, they closed the @karensgoingwild account because it had been hacked. Since regaining control of the account, the admins made the page private.[3]
Three days later, Insider interviewed the admins about the popularity of the page. In the piece, Insider writes that the duo finds content on "Twitter, TikTok, Yelp, Facebook, and Reddit, and many of their posts are submitted by fans of the page."
On fan-submitted videos, Blake Bell said:
Karens' have children, and we've had people DM our account to say 'Hey that's my mom and by posting this video you're bullying her. We've had DMs from people saying 'Here's that woman you posted and here's her address.'
