History

Personal Life

Julia Fox was born on February 2nd, 1990, in Milan, Italy to an Italian mother and an American father.^[1] At the age of 6, she moved to New York, New York where she lived in Manhattan with her father. She worked a series of odd jobs in her teenage and college years, ranging from ice cream shop worker to dominatrix.^[1] Before she became an actress, Fox was a clothing designer and model at the head of her own brand Franziska Fox. She also nude-modeled for Playboy in 2015 within their last ever edition hosting female nudes.^[2]

Acting Career

Fox's acting debut was in the movie Uncut Gems directed by the Safdie brothers and released to American theaters on December 13th, 2019.^[3] The movie is about a Jewish-American jeweler and gambling addict named Howard Ratner, played by Adam Sandler. Fox's character in the movie was named Julia De Fiore, a saleswoman in the protagonist's jewelry store, and additionally, his mistress. The movie received a 92 percent "Fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes ^[4] and Fox was nominated for multiple "Supporting Actress" and "Breakthrough Actress" awards from film associations such as the Toronto Film Critics Association and the Chicago Film Critics Association.^[1]

Online History

Julia Fox became a pop culture reference on social media around the time of her acting debut in late 2019. Tweets appeared about her starting in October 2019.^[4] Once Uncut Gems was released to theaters on December 19th, Twitter users started to reference Fox for both her convincing acting as well as for her physical features, specifically her behind. For instance, on December 28th, the official Twitter^[5] account of Pornhub tweeted, "I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Julia Fox's ass doesn't win for best supporting actress in Uncut Gems I'm going to be pissed," earning over 800 likes in two years (shown below).

On February 14th, 2020, Twitter^[6] user knicks_tape99 captioned an image of LeBron James with, "Julia Fox deleted all the pictures of her husband from her IG," earning roughly 12,800 likes in two years (shown below, left). On October 22nd, 2020, Stavros Halkias from the Cum Town podcast tweeted,^[7] "Any couple that doesn’t dress up as adam Sandler and Julia fox from uncut gems will be broken up by the end of the year," earning over 900 likes in a year and a half (shown below, right).

Pregnancy

In February 2021, Fox gave birth to a baby boy and the story generated significant discussion on social media, mostly due to reports that her baby's husband was not going to be in the picture. On February 15th, 2021, Twitter^[8] user missmollymary posted a tweet that screenshotted a botched news headline that read funny, earning roughly 45,900 likes in one year (shown below, left). On December 21st, 2021, Twitter^[9] user mariebardi posted a tweet that read, "Julia Fox’s deadbeat baby daddy is public enemy no1 in NYC right now," earning roughly 4,400 likes in four months (shown below, right).

Julia Fox and Kanye West

On January 23rd, 2022, Julia Fox and Kanye West appeared together at Paris Fashion Week, effectively announcing their debut as a couple. The development followed Kanye's divorce from Kim Kardashian in mid-2021. Post-divorce, in October 2021, Kardashian started dating comedian Pete Davidson, which started a public dispute between West vs. Davidson.

Kanye's appearance with Fox in Paris inspired multiple memes about the two and brought mainstream attention back to Fox once more. Most memes and tweets about Fox with Kanye centered on their all-denim outfits, Fox's dark, eyeliner make-up and jokes about Fox's PR representative who meme creators comically called a "genius." For instance, on January 23rd, 2022, Twitter^[10] user cloudeeuhh compared Fox to the character Nightman from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. The tweet earned roughly 69,900 likes in two months (shown below).

Breakup

Kanye and Fox broke up close to Valentine's Day 2022, having their relationship last less than a month. On February 14th, 2022, Fox posted an Instagram Story in which she stated she was a "#1 hustler" for her relationship with Ye. Furthermore, she added, "I came up ya'll lol and not only that but Kanye and I are on good terms!" She also stated that she'd only cried once in 2022 and hinted at her upcoming book about her life (shown below). Internet news outlet RapTV tweeted^[11] about the development on the 14th, earning roughly 69,800 likes in one month.

On the same day, Twitter^[12] user TheNickAttack posted a quote tweet that related Fox to a "1-month sociological study conducted by harvard university," essentially referencing Timmy Thick. The tweet earned roughly 102,700 likes in one month (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter^[13] user _iamck8 tweeted, "Julia fox watching Kanye fight for Kim," earning roughly 33,900 likes in one month (shown below, right).

Julia Fox "Uncut Jams"

Julia Fox 'Uncut Jams' refers to a quote from Julia Fox while on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast on February 9th, 2022.^[14] When asked how she felt about being then-boyfriend Kanye West's "muse," Fox replied "I was Josh Safdie's muse when he wrote Uncut Gems" (shown below). However, her pronunciation of "gems" sounds more like "jams" to many listeners, leading to parodies of the moment online and the clip being used in lip-dub skits on TikTok.

Later that day, Spotify uploaded the clip to TikTok where it became an original sound (shown below).^[15]

Goblin Mode

Goblin Mode is a slang term used to describe a person or animal acting feral or the cowgirl sex position. In February 2022, the virality of the phrase culminated in a photoshopped headline that showed Julia Fox saying her breakup from Kanye West was because West didn't like it when she went "goblin mode." On February 15th, 2022, Twitter user meowmeowmeuw^[16] was the one who tweeted the photoshopped headline (shown below).

2022 Oscar's Dress and Make-up

On March 28th, 2022, the 94th Academy Awards were held in Los Angeles, California. The most viral moment from the night was Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock but Julia Fox also made some headway in memes for her provocative dress that appeared to be strangling her and her dark, eye make-up.

For instance, on March 28th, Twitter^[17] user binchcity posted a tweet that read, "Julia Fox showing up to social events after smonking heavily and thinking no one’s gonna notice?
