Jenny Nicholson is a YouTuber known for her hour-long essay videos on pop culture. Nicholson started her career in 2016 by posting comedy skit videos about Star Wars, Marvel Comics and other content related to the entertainment industry. In May 2024, the YouTuber became a viral topic on X / Twitter and TikTok after she uploaded a four-hour-long video about her experience in the now-permanently closed Florida Star Wars Hotel in Bay Lake, Florida.

Online History

On May 4th, 2016, Jenny Nicholson posted her earliest comedy skit video,[1] titled "How To Make Up Star Wars Names," in which she explains a theory on how to create name characters similar to the Star Wars franchise. The video (seen below, left) received more than 497,000 views and 18,000 likes in eight years.

She continued to post comedic content related to pop culture over the years and later in 2018 she began a series of essay videos sharing her opinion on movies, geek culture, fan fiction and many other topics. For example, on June 3rd, 2018, Nicholson posted a video[2] about the Han Solo prequel movie (shown below, right), which garnered over 1.8 million views and 40,000 likes in six years.


The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel Essay Video

On May 18th, 2024, Jenny uploaded a video about her experience at the now-permanently closed Florida Star Wars Hotel in Bay Lake, Florida. The four-hour-long essay,[3] titled "The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel," amassed over 2.3 million views and 122,000 likes in three days (shown below).

The video became a viral topic on X and TikTok, as Nicholson's fans shared their excitement to watch the upload.

For example, on May 19th, 2024, TikTok[4] user @theegoosegirl explained why she was so thrilled to binge-watch Jenny's video (seen below, left), which garnered more than 58,000 plays and 6,800 likes in two days. On May 20th, TikTok[5] user @jasonkpargin posted a video commenting on why Nicholson's Star Wars Hotel essay is worth watching (seen below, right), which amassed over 373,000 plays and 39,000 likes in a day.

As of May 21st, 2024, Jenny Nicholson has accumulated over 1 million subscribers on YouTube,[6] more than 80,000 followers on Instagram[7] and over 90,000 followers on TikTok.[8]

Online Presence

Memetic content about the YouTuber has been posted on X and Reddit since 2019, especially after the YouTube channel Every Frame A Pause (EFAP) uploaded an 11-hour response video[9] on November 4th, 2019, to Nicholson's Joker film review. EFAP's video (seen below) amassed more than 679,000 views and 12,000 likes in five years.


After EFAP's video garnered attention, the subject became a viral topic on X and Reddit. For instance, on November 6th, 2019, Redditor[10] @PearJack posted a screenshot of Nicholson's tweets about the 11-hour Joker response video (seen below), which received more than 80 upvotes and 58 comments in five years.
