Jackie Chan (Born Chan Kong-sang, Chinese: 陳港生) is a Hong Kong born actor, martial artist, film director, stuntman, singer and producer, who is primarily know for his many prominent movie roles.[1] He has appeared in over 200 films since beginning his acting career in the 1960s and has been honored with stars on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is well known for the many fighting styles and acrobatic movements he employs in his film roles, having trained in multiple martial arts, including: Wing Chun Kung Fu, Hapkido, Jeet Kune Do, Judo, Karate and Taekwondo. Chan is also a notable philanthropist with an estimated net worth of approximately $350 million.[2] On November 12th, 2016, Chan was awarded an honorary lifetime achievement Oscar for his acting career.[7]

Chan first came to fame in Hong Kong in the 1980s. He was know for his box-office hits in that region. He initially tried to break into Hollywood as an action star, but it wasn't until he began blending action with comedy in films like Rush Hour, a buddy-cop film starring him and Chris Tucker, that he became a Hollywood star.

Honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar

On November 12th, Chan received an honorary lifetime achievement Oscar at the age of 62. He said “Standing here is a dream. After 56 years in the film industry, making more than 200 films, breaking so many bones, finally this is mine.” He was one of four film industry veterans to win the awards in 2016.
