About
its557am refers to a dancer and content creator on TikTok who performs creepy dance routines in his room that use stark lighting to cast shadows, sped-up effects to make his movements appear rapid and the use of meme songs/sounds to reference internet humor. He started posting content in late 2020 but went viral in early 2022. He's also known as the creator thatoneguy.tt who started the Singing Undertale Man meme.
Online History
TikToker its557am posted his first TikTok[1] video on November 16th, 2020, being a shadow dance to the song "Lofi" by Nebulous. Over the course of two years, the video received roughly 17,500 plays and 1,200 likes (shown below, left). He continued to post similar dance content with his back turned going into the remainder of 2020. On November 28th, 2020, he posted a video[3] showing himself dancing in his bathroom to the TikTok sound "Cheshire Cat All there – Ear candy," [2] earning roughly 577,100 plays and 210,700 likes in two years (shown below, right). The video earned him a spike in follower count and overall engagement.
TikToker its557am continued to refine his dancing and editing styles going into 2021. He received over 1 million plays for a video[4] of his posted on March 8th, 2021, earning roughly 2.1 million plays and 528,700 likes over the course of one year (shown below, left). On April 2nd, 2021, he posted a dance video[5] using the Hi, I'm Dory. Let's Go! sound, earning roughly 5.4 million plays and 810,900 likes in one year (shown below, right).
On April 11th, 2021, TikToker[6] aya._.002 posted an animation redraw of its557am's "Hi, I'm Dory. Let's Go!" video, earning roughly 2.4 million plays and 426,600 likes in one year (shown below, left). On May 3rd, 2022, TikToker[7] aya._.002 posted another animation redraw of the same video, earning roughly 1.6 million plays and 309,100 likes in one year (shown below, right).
In early 2021, TikTokers tried recreating his dances in Duets of his content. For instance, on March 9th, 2021, TikToker[8] theysallme posted a duet that received roughly 52,800 plays and 12,200 likes in one year (shown below, left).
By the end of 2021 and going into 2022, its557am's TikToks started to consistently receive millions of plays. For instance, on September 8th, 2021, its557am posted a video[9] that gained roughly 14.8 million plays and 2.9 million likes in nine months (shown below, right).
Identity / Face Reveal
On March 5th, 2022, a new account called thatoneguy.tt started posting content.[10] Many TikTokers claimed in the comment section that it was TikToker its557am's alternative account due to a secondary video[11] thatoneguy.tt posted on March 5th, 2022 that more obviously revealed himself as its557am, earning roughly 178,100 plays and 40,000 likes in three months (shown below, left).
On March 9th, 2022, TikToker[12] n0fac3revile posted a video that claimed to include a since-deleted video from its557am that was quickly deleted after uploading, presumably by mistake. N0fac3revile's video received roughly 16,000 plays and over 560 likes in three months (shown below, right).
In thatoneguy.tt's later videos, like the original Singing Undertale Man TikTok,[13] the same red curtain and oversized clock can be seen in the backgrounds of its557am videos, an example being one video[14] posted on May 23rd, 2021.
