@Dayne_n_simple is the social media handle of Dana Caldwell, a TikToker who comments and mocks viral food videos on the platform through a series of rhythmic Duets.
History
On March 15th, 2020, Caldwell posted the first video on TikTok,[1] a dance video to the song "Diamond in the Back" by King Simi. The post received more than 5,700 views and 400 comments in less than one year (shown below).
Months later, she posted her first food video Duet on July 3rd, 2020. The post received more than 1.3 million views and 100,000 comments in less than three months (shown below, left).
Over the next few weeks, she continued to post food videos in which she yells at and criticizes the person cooking (example below, center).
By the end of August, Caldwell began taking on a different persona in which she spoke in quieter tones and with more rhythmic phrasing to the person cooking (example below, right).
Highlights
On September 22nd, 2020, rapper Snoop Dogg shared a pair of Caldwell's videos on Instagram. He wrote, "the black Mama Stewart," referring to his co-star Martha Stewart". The post received more than 503,000 likes in less than two days (shown below).
That day, she posted a screenshot of a direct message conversation between herself and Snoop Dogg on Twitter.[2] The post received more than 23,000 views, 975 likes and 100 retweets (shown below).

The following day, Caldwell appeared on Forbes,[4] discussing the share in an interview. She said, "It was unreal…I appreciated him for appreciating me."
She continued to discuss her appeal. "People fell in love with the way I said decadent and decadence. I wanted to find videos that would compliment my words and the way I said them."
The Daily Dot [3] also published an article about the TikToker.
