Chip Shop Diva or Chip Shop Girl is a nickname given to TikToker @desth.xo, who began appearing in a series of TikTok videos advertising Merchants Fish Bar in the U.K. starting in September 2024. In each video, the Chip Shop Diva interacts with a customer who is ordering fish and chips (french fries). The videos became notably popularized online between September and November 2024, inspiring fan edits, fancams, memes, remixes and content on TikTok centered around the Chip Shop Diva. In one of the most popular videos, the customer orders the mini haddock meal.

History

TikToker @desth.xo started posting on her personal TikTok^[1] account on June 6th, 2024, with her first video being a lip dub that garnered over 1.3 million views in five months. She posted four additional videos between then and November 8th, each garnering between one million and 2.2 million views. They were likely accelerated by her videos for Merchants Fish Bar, which began in September 2024.

On September 11th, 2024, the @merchants_fishandchips TikTok^[2] account, an account made to promote Merchants Fish Bar^[3] in Bewdley, England, posted a video from the POV of a customer ordering some fish and chips from @desth.xo, who later became known as the "Chip Shop Diva." The video garnered over 12 million views in two months.

The account posted 12 more videos featuring the Chip Shop Diva between September 11th and November 14th, 2024, each garnering multiple millions of views. For example, on October 4th, the account posted a video to TikTok^[4] featuring the Diva that garnered over 25 million views in a month.

On November 5th, the TikToker^[5] uploaded a video that garnered over 10 million views in a week. On November 13th, the TikToker^[6] uploaded a video in which he and the Chip Shop Diva thanked everyone for their support, garnering over 2.3 million views in a day.

Chip Shop Diva's personal TikTok account, @desth.xo, has over 160,000 followers as of November 14th, 2024.

The popularity of the Chip Shop Diva series inspired content on TikTok, including memes, musical remixes and more. On November 1st, 2024, TikToker^[7] @selfawarecunt posted an edit of Chip Shop Diva content captioned, "Obsessed with this diva," garnering over 350,000 views in two weeks.

On November 2nd, TikToker^[8] @vickyhenrymua posted a video in which she does the diva's makeup, garnering over 1.4 million views in two weeks.

On November 7th, TikToker^[9] @thesilverfishtelford posted a video in which they reenacted a typical Chip Shop Diva video, garnering over 1.1 million views in a week.

On November 10th, 2024, TikToker^[10] @babymonster.aep posted a video editing footage of Chip Shop Diva from the mini haddock meal video to the song "360" by Charli XCX, garnering over 2.3 million views in four days.
