Bruce Wang, also known by his TikTok username @not4sail, refers to a 16-year-old, "GymTok" TikToker who goes by the alias Bruce Wang, an Asian-sounding variation of Batman's name Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wang posts lifting and gym content on TikTok, playing into his sigma male character within every "Bruce Wang intro" in which he wears a straw, Chinese hat (called an Asian conical hat) and introduces himself to the cameraman while the slowed + reverb version of the song "Levanta a Mão Pro Alto" by MTG plays (which became known as the "Bruce Wang song"). As he grew a large following in early 2023, Bruce Wang's videos received increased engagement, garnering cross-platform attention on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram, among others. He lives in the Goldcoast area of Australia.

It is unknown exactly when Bruce Wang began posting to social media, however, his first, still-accessible post was uploaded to Instagram^[1] on December 31st, 2022. It's most likely that Bruce Wang deleted all of his content posted prior to January 2023 due to his January 2023 virality.

On January 2nd, 2023, Bruce Wang posted his first still-accessible TikTok^[2] video to his account @not4sail. The video showed him attempting to deadlift a large weight and over the course of one month, the video received roughly 2.5 million plays and 446,000 likes (shown below, left). A month later, on February 3rd, 2023, he posted another TikTok^[3] which was his first video as the character Bruce Wang, earning roughly 6.3 million plays and 962,100 likes in 11 days (shown below, right).

On February 6th, 2023, Bruce Wang posted a TikTok^[4] in which the cameraman approached him, asking if he was Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wang was wearing a pointed, straw hat that was lifted up to reveal him. Also, the slowed + reverb remix of MTG's "Levanta a Mão Pro Alto" ^[5] was played. The concept became Bruce Wang's TikTok intro and the video received roughly 7.1 million plays and 1.1 million likes in eight days (shown below, left). On February 7th, 2023, he posted another TikTok^[6] with the same premise, earning roughly 9.4 million plays and 1.6 million likes in one week (shown below, right).

As Bruce Wang grew a large following in February 2023, Bruce Wang fan edits and powerscaling memes surfaced from fellow TikTokers and his followers. For instance, on February 12th, 2023, TikToker^[7] @connertheeditingmachine posted a fan edit that emphasized Bruce Wang as their "gym crush," earning roughly 1.3 million plays and 294,100 likes in two days (shown below).
