Pee Your Pants Challenge

Pee Your Pants Challenge refers to a social media trend participants of which record themselves urinating into their pants. While a number of TikTok users uploaded videos of wetting their pants, more users either faked the challenge, twisted it in humorous ways or reacted to videos made by other people.

Origin

Prior to April 18th. 2020, TikTok user liamw2 uploaded a video of himself saying "pee your pants challenge" and urinating into his pants. On April 21st, 2020, liamw2 reuploaded^[1] the video, commenting that the original post was removed by TikTok. The reupload received over 157,500 views and 5600 likes in one week (shown below).

Spread

Starting at least on April 18th, 2020, a number of TikTok users posted videos of themselves urinating into their pants accompanied by the hashtags #peeyourpantschallenge and #peeyourpants. For example, an April 18th, 2020, post by TikTok^[2] user nathasthomas gained over 1.1 million views and 91,400 likes in two weeks. On April 19th, 2020, TikTok^[3] user cole.kubic uploaded a previously removed video of himself wetting his pants, with the video gaining over 72,700 views and 2,600 likes (shown below, center). An April 21st, 2020, post^[4] by mentally7evan received over 528,700 views and 17,100 likes in one week (shown below, right).

At the same time, multiple TikTok users posted videos in which they either faked the challenge, parodied it or reacted to videos by other users. For example, on April 18th TikTok^[5] user @tylerdoesit1 reuploaded a previously removed video of himself faking the challenge, gaining over 342,500 views and 1,600 likes (shown below, left). On April 22nd, TikTok^[6] user dayngerdabs made a parody post that received over 78,400 views and 900 likes in one week (shown below, center)
