Peace Up A-Town is a TikTok dance move originating in early June 2020 that involves mining shooting a bow and arrow, giving a peace sign and then an "A" with their fingers to the 2004 Usher song "Yeah!" The trend became popular amongst top TikTokers like Addison Rae and Jason Derulo in late July.
Origin
On June 7th, 2020, TikToker trevorduvenage uploaded a video of himself miming shooting an arrow to the beginning of Usher's "Yeah!" over the sound clip labeled "Trev Peace and Love for all – trevorduvenage" (shown below). The video gained over 162,900 likes in a month.
Spread
On July 26th, 2020, the dance trend started to become popular on TikTok. That day, TikToker ailani.j posted her take on the dance and garnered over 842,000 likes in 10 days (shown below, left). That same day, TikToker addisonre uploaded a popular iteration that received over 6.4 million likes in 10 days (shown below, center). On July 28th, TikToker jasonderulo participated in the trend and accumulated over 828,700 likes in a week (shown below, right). StayHipp[1] published an article on the trend.
